Court-Ordered Community Service
Pursuant to an order of the Honorable Judge Paul R. Malchesky, you are required to complete a designated number of community service hours as a condition of probation or in lieu of fines and/or court costs. All required community service hours must be completed at an approved organization that provides services benefiting the community and its citizens. Acceptable service locations include health districts; park districts; counties; municipal corporations or townships; other political subdivisions of the state; or charitable organizations that provide essential community services. All community service must be performed under appropriate supervision and completed as scheduled. Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible, punctual, and respectful manner at all times.
The Probation Department is responsible for administering all aspects of court-ordered community service. This includes issuing the necessary documentation forms, providing a list of approved community service locations, and verifying the completion of service hours. Accurate and complete documentation of all hours worked is required and must be signed by a supervising authority at the service site. Upon completion of all required hours, the signed verification forms must be submitted to the Probation Department by the specified deadline in order to receive proper credit for compliance.
If a motion for community service has been granted by the Court, notification will be provided by telephone or mail. Upon notification, the individual is required to report to the Probation Department during regular business hours to receive further instructions.
